Girl with no shoes.

Friday 26th December 2008.

Sofia's Birthday.
It feels like I've been here for weeks not days! We've done so much already.
I really couldn't imagine actually living here though. It's miles apart from my life not just geographically but in every little thing.
This is a world where dogs chase the small horses which then run around the front lawn. One of the girls drinks the milk from one of the horse. Spiders the size of my foot creep up on you while you're having afternoon tea. Where Christmas is about decorating each other, laughing and crackers, presents being the after thought. Although when the presents are being distributed they're immediately followed by a kiss. The most obvious of all things that is different is in this world the animals are just as important and involved in life as the people. Can you imagine living with more horses on your front lawn than people in your house?
The most amazing thing I've heard so far is on a trip into town we got out the car and the keys were left in the ignition, because of course how inconciderate would it be if someone needed to move your car. Now that is a world I would like to live in.
As different and amazing as this place may be and all the things I get surprised by even when I know they're there I have to say one thing. One thing it doesn't have is Home. I don't think I could ever feel completely content here. As much as some love the emptiness, peace and quiet. There is a certain magic in the hussle and bussle of city life. I'd rather be lonely surrounded by people than no one.

Girl with no shoes.
